To ALL with crashes

I'm hunting a crashbug, introduced with the postprocess enabled binaries and need the following informations from users with this problem:

- ATI/AMD ot NVIDIA card
- Windows Version
- DirectX9 besides DirectX10 installed or just DirectX10
- Is crashing the engine.dll or another dll?
- Are you running STEAM in the background when launching the mod?
- Are you using software like Afterburner or rivatuner with overlay enabled?
- full path of your sourcemods folder (without your username)

Thanks for your assistance.

Update:

Still bughunting, but it seems, the shader-dll doesn't like non-steam rips or installation outside the official sourcemods folder structure.

Are the affected users using non-standard (= no official steam) directory structure?

Hmm

- NVIDIA GTX 480, 1.5 Vram
- Windows 7 64 Ultimate
- DirectX 10
- No DLL report, just give me an error "HL2 stop working"
- No STEAM running
- No other software running, just Chrome

AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series, catalist 12.8
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 920 Processor,
win 7 enterprice x86 (installed some time ago)
win 7 enterprice x64 (fresh, not junked)
both sp1
Dx... well, i did not install something special, just update through steam
In win 7 as i remember dx 10 from the box, so...
client dll (big reprt in last messegases in 11.37 topic)
tried with and without steam
I am using cliff repack

no overlay soft as i know

D:\games\FAKEFACTORY CM11

FF, Will you need MDMP our files ?

This is the directx9 version, i'm using for developing. It can co-exists with any Vista/7/8 dx10 and will install all missing/newer directx9 parts, without touching your directx10 installation.

I think Fakefactory is trying to work out a solution regarding the cause of the issue, the shadereditor_2007.dll and game_shader_generic_eshader_2007.dll files, as mentioned in the 11.52 thread.

It's most likely that these files simply need updating to be compatible with newer systems, which unfortunately can't be done! There is an alternative that actually incorporates shaders that do the same thing as that, and also includes the ENB etc all in one (SweetFX) which is fully working and in development, but I guess if Fakefactory moves to that some modifications would have to be done... Not sure whether it works with HL2, but it has got good results in other games. I can understand him being reluctant on using it for now, if using it means having to do several changes. I probably got a little pushy regarding it in the 11.52 thread, but that was only because I was enthusiastic!

I have a question: should I post here compacting game with "low on memory" message as crash? After that message, game can be resumed and works ok, but next map causes it to appear again. Custom maps, however, don't cause this.

Nope . low memory crashes fixing with reducing texture quality. Or some other ways. Depends from your config. Look in technical help section. This topic foor poor guys who can't even see menu after last updates on 11.37 and newer version.
All hopes that FF will find solutions ;)

This is the error message I'm getting when trying to start HL2 CM11.52 ...

And this is my system:

AMD Radeon HD5770 (Catalyst 12.9 Beta)
Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
DX9 and DX10 installed
launcher DLL is the one that keeps crashing
no, Steam should start together with the mod on my system
no, I'm not using any overclocking/tweaking tools
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods (my name isn't there anyway)

Thanks for trying to fix the problem! I'd really love to play the newest version of your amazing modification soon.

Phantom, check the following directories:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\FAKEFACTORY_CM11\hl2\bin

Are the server.dll and the client.dll there?

And:

How big ist the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\FAKEFACTORY_CM11\bin

(Should be > 50 MB)
